Where the Name Comes From
A dive, a fire, a feast
In the islands of the far north, the best night of any trip has always looked the same: a dusk dive along the reef, lobster taken by hand, a fire on an empty beach, and stories told until the stars take over.
We grew up doing exactly that. When friends and guests began asking to join, we realised the thing we loved most was the thing worth sharing — and that every guest went home with a tale to tell. So we named ourselves after the night that starts them all.
Where We're From
Home Is Shaviyani Komandoo
Long before Lobster Tales had a name, it had a home — Komandoo, a small island in Shaviyani Atoll, in the quiet north of the Maldives. This is where our team grew up, and where the ocean was never a destination. It was simply daily life.
We learned to read the tide before we learned much else. Fishing wasn't a sport here — it fed the family. Camping on a nearby sandbank wasn't an adventure — it was just where a weekend went. Diving for the evening's catch wasn't a bucket-list moment — it was dinner. We lived every one of the experiences we now build programs around, long before we ever called them 'programs.'
That upbringing is still who we are. It's why we know these waters from memory, not charts — and why we take real pride in sharing that life with you, hosting guests across different parts of the Maldives on programs built from the exact experiences we grew up living.
Who We Are
Local captains, watermen and friends
Lobster Tales is run by a close team of licensed local captains and watermen from the North Maldives — people who have spent their whole lives reading these tides, birds and seasons. We handled VIP guests and serious anglers long before we had a website, and we run every charter the same way: privately, honestly and personally.
Our ambition is simple and unhidden: to become the number-one private sport fishing and sea-adventure charter in the Maldives — by being the crew people come back to, year after year.
