Aerial view of Maldives atolls

The Maldives

A nation made of ocean

1,190 islands scattered across 26 atolls — and 99% of the country is water. You are coming to our home ground.

The Essentials

What every visitor should know

  • Getting here
Fly into Velana International Airport (MLE), Malé. From there, domestic flights, seaplanes and speedboats reach the atolls — we advise the best route for your base.
  • Two seasons
The northeast monsoon (roughly December–April) is drier and calmer; the southwest monsoon (May–November) brings more rain and wind — and some superb fishing windows. There is no bad time, only different fishing.
  • Resorts and local islands
Resorts are private islands; local islands are living communities with guesthouses, cafés and real Maldivian life. Our expeditions open the local-island side most visitors never see.
  • Culture
The Maldives is a Muslim nation. On local islands, modest dress is appreciated away from designated beaches, and alcohol is available only on resorts. Our halal catering and local etiquette guidance keep everything smooth.
  • Money & practicalities
US dollars are widely accepted, cards work at most guesthouses and resorts, and mobile data is fast and cheap. Time zone GMT+5.

Why the North

Our home waters

We are based in the far north — remote atolls where the reefs are wild, the islands are quiet and the fishing pressure is a fraction of the centre. It is further from the airport, and that is exactly the point: fewer boats, better fishing, emptier islands. For guests staying near Malé, we also run days in the central atolls and tuna expeditions to the south.
